Christmas Eve Truce 1914

Christmas Eve Truce – 1914
Coeur de Bourgogne – Ville de Coeur

A very special event occurred 105 years ago when soldiers from both sides of the Great War laid down their arms and exchanged gifts and stories. This was reenacted in Ville de Coeur at the Hospice in Bourgogne on Saturday, 14 Dec, 2019 with trenches on either side of a No Man’s Land. Members of the community gathered here, many dressed in period costumes, as they listened to Magnus Brody reading some of the letters and playing excerpts from original recordings from the period.
